Alarming figure concerning education in Morocco

High school dropout rate: In 2021, approximately 431,876 students dropped out of school, according to the Ministry of National Education. This figure reflects a persistent problem related to student access and retention in the education system.

Selon un rapport de l'UNICEF, près de 40% des enfants des zones rurales n'achèvent pas l'école primaire. Cette disparité est en grande partie due à des infrastructures éducatives insuffisantes et à des obstacles socio-économiques.

Taux d'analphabétisme : Environ 32% de la population adulte marocaine était analphabète en 2019, selon les données de l'UNESCO. Ce chiffre est particulièrement élevé chez les femmes et les populations rurales, soulignant les disparités en matière d'accès à l'éducation de base.

Classroom Overcrowding: In some areas, class sizes exceed 40 or even 50 students. This overcrowding in classrooms seriously affects the quality of teaching and the individual attention each student can receive, making effective learning and classroom management difficult for teachers.

This idea germinated in me a long time ago...

Our story

As a child, I spent my holidays in Morocco, surrounded by a rich culture and warm people. But I also witnessed inequality, especially in education. Too many children do not have access to quality education, and too many adults are deprived of the opportunity to learn and grow.

Today, at 21, I can no longer sit back and do nothing. That's why I decided to launch the project: Orange Blossom for Education.

Concretely, what do we do?

1) Literacy is for everyone

We set up literacy programs for adults, using adapted and fun methods.

2) Invest in the future

We support schools and local associations that are already working in the field of education, by providing them with financial, material and human support.

3) Ouvrir les portes du savoir

We build libraries in the most remote regions of Morocco, so that knowledge is accessible to all.

How are we going to get there?

At Maison al Zakarya, we believe in the power of knowledge to transform lives. Inspired by our roots and our vision for a better future, we created an association that supports education in the most remote regions of Morocco.

Through this initiative, we set up literacy programs for adults using fun and adapted methods. We also support local schools and associations, providing them with financial, material and human assistance, and we build libraries to make knowledge accessible to all.
